There was palpable tension at Ogbaku motor-park in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State after a suya seller was killed by unknown gunmen.

An eyewitness, Mr Kelechi Iwuagwu, from Ogbaku community, told NAIJALOADED that the incident occurred on Saturday around 12pm at the Ogbaku park.

He said,

“The gunmen first shot at their first target, a suya seller, who died instantly, while they gave the second target, a wrapper seller a hot chase before he was shot at his shoulder.”

Iwuagwu said the suya seller believed to be an Hausa man, was shot at close range and killed, while his friend was chased and shot.

According to him,

“Some armed men numbering about 10 stormed the park with motorcycles, created tension and fear in the motor park. While everyone took to their heels, they shot a suya seller and gave a wrapper seller believed to be a northerner a chase and shot him on his shoulder.

“As I speak now, the corpse of the suya seller is still lying lifeless at Ogbaku motor park and the wrapper seller is still alive. The men of the Ogbaku Police Division are already present expecting signal from police headquarters in Owerri before conveying the corpses.”

Another eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, while reacting to the ugly development narrated that before the arrival of security operatives, the hoodlums already killed one and shot the other in his shoulder.

He said the situation has caused panic among residents of the affected areas. The people in the community are living in fear.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Micheal Abattam, was yet to respond to an inquiry concerning the incident.
