Nigerian singer and songwriter, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable has reacted to the Next Rated awards given to his colleague BNXN, in the just concluded 15th edition of The Headies.
Portable, who hosted an Instagram live, asserted that he was bigger and more recognized than the next-rated winner.
“Oga, you no blow joor, if you blow come trenches, all those Iya alata (pepper sellers) no know you, enter Oshodi motor, dem no fit sing your song,” he said in pidgin English.
Portable also claimed that he was bigger than the organisers of The Headies award.
He said, “I blow pass who get headies, who create am, people wey dey the table, I blow pass them this year and I go blow pass them forever.”
Recall that the “Zazoo” singer was nominated for the 15th headies edition as ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste’ but he was later disqualified.
According to the organizers, Portable was disqualified due to his conduct on social media.
On May 25, 2022, the singer threatened to kill or harm other nominees in the same categories he was nominated for if he did not emerge the winner.
He also claimed to be the leader of the notorious One Million Boys gang known to terrorise residents of Lagos. He later backtracked.
The singer was disqualified on July 26 by the organizers of the awards, an action which was described as a strong message of not condoning reckless and uncouth statements.
